As the year comes to an end everyone is wondering what is in store for search engine optimisation (SEO) in 2017.
There is no doubt that SEO is evolving fast and we need to turn our attention to what is on the digital marketing landscape for 2017.
The last 10 months have seen a lot of changes in SEO and some of those trends will continue into next year. Google’s algorithms constantly update and keep business owners guessing and several other trends are expected to make an impact in 2017 like mobile SEO and voice search.
Here are a few things that will most likely trend over the coming months:
Although keywords will still be important, simple text will yield simple results. Internet surfers know exactly what they want and, added to that, search engines are better at recognising user intent. Users now typically type full queries or phrases into search engines, gathering data and heuristics and providing results in a more effective manner.
Brands will need to place significance on optimising digital content in 2017 and keep up with SEO trends in 2017 and base their work on intent rather than reliance on specific keywords. For SEO strategy, it will be important to:
1. Explore: Find out what users are searching for that has brought them to your page? What questions as they expecting your content to answer?
2. Optimise: After researching the data and tightening up any areas that are lacking, make any changes that will lead to boosted ratings. After research, relate the buyer’s story by changing content to reflect reader involvement.
3. Change: Monitor analytics so you know what is working and what is not then update.
Everyone looks to Google for answers and Google will often display the searched for information directly in the search results, along with websites that might help, videos, movie and event information, specific event dates and reviews.
Schema Mark-up or structured data mark up will help websites achieve enhanced listings on SERPs (search engine results pages). This assists search engines to understand website content, and display information in a way that users find helpful. SEO predictions show this is going to be very important in 2017
Multi-channel and cross marketing may sound similar, but are very different. Multi-channel simply means having a presence on more than one platform. Cross-channel just means using several different channels for integrated marketing. This works in online marketing when, for example, a user is browsing goods or services on an app on their mobile but does not buy. Now you can send targeted ads that are based on their searches via social media or email. Vital to this is:
Consumers are more connected than ever, today and quality cross-channel marketing will continue to be in demand in 2017.
Next year will be an important year too for trends like, mobile search and will be a very interesting time for SEO companies in UK. Happy New SEO Year!
